About Us

Ace Tile & Stone LLC is a small, family-owned and operated tile and flooring company proudly serving Hillsboro, Oregon, and the surrounding communities. As a father-and-son team, Erick Mata and Hector Mata bring over 20 years of hands on experience, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern installation techniques to deliver beautiful, long lasting results.

 Our story began long before Ace Tile & Stone was founded. By the age of 10, Hector was already learning the value of hard work and gaining experience in many areas of construction, including bricklaying, landscaping, concrete, framing, roofing, flooring, and more. Although he enjoyed all aspects of construction, his true passion was tile. He has now been a tile/flooring installer for over 20 years, with a great understanding of the trade and layouts.

 Erick grew up in the trades, helping his father on job sites from a very young age. After graduating high school, Erick took a summer job in the tile industry and quickly realized he wanted to make it his lifelong career while helping support his family along the way. Determined to master his craft, he joined the National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA) program just one year after entering the trade and completed the program over the following three years at the age of 22 years old and opened up his own family business along with his father shortly after. For Erick, starting his own company was always a dream. Today, working side by side with his father, that dream has become a reality for both. Together, they are a team built on trust, experience, and a shared passion for creating beautiful spaces that last for generations.

Since then, Erick & Hector have worked on a wide variety of projects ranging from residential remodels and luxury custom homes to large scale commercial projects throughout Oregon and beyond. Their experience includes high end residences, universities, schools, hotels, arenas, corporate campuses, including projects at Nike Headquarters, and many other notable installations. This diverse background has given them the skills and knowledge to tackle projects of any size while maintaining the same attention to detail and commitment to quality.

 Over the years, they have completed both residential and commercial projects, including some of the largest tile installations in Oregon. From custom bathrooms and luxury showers to large commercial spaces and full flooring remodels, we approach every project with the same commitment to quality, precision, and attention to detail.

 What sets them apart is the way they treat their customers and their homes. They understand that remodeling is a significant investment, which is why they treat every project as if it were their own home with respect, care, and a dedication to getting every detail right. They value honest communication, keep every job site clean, and deliver work they are proud to stand behind for years to come.

 Their expertise includes large format tile installations, natural stone, custom shower benches and niches, self-leveling underlayment, and traditional mud bed shower pans. They are certified installers of the Wedi Shower System and are extensively trained in the Hydro Blok and Schluter Shower Systems, allowing them to build fully waterproofed showers to the highest industry standards. Whether your project requires a modern prefabricated waterproofing system or a traditional mud bed shower, they have the knowledge and experience to build it correctly from the ground up.

 In addition to tile and stone, they provide expert installation of a wide range of flooring products, including Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP), Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT), Vinyl Composition Tile (VCT), carpet, and other flooring systems. No matter the size or complexity of the project, their goal remains the same to provide exceptional craftsmanship and a finished product that exceeds expectations.
